The spirit of experimentation was much in evidence on the second day of the festival, Saturday 17 November, where Heather Roche gave a stunning clarinet recital to a sold-out audience in Phipps Hall, performing pieces that called for instrument preparations involving silver foil and a loudspeaker inside the end of her bass clarinet.
